[REVIEW] Skin Sapiens Facial Cleansing Gel

I wanted to celebrate a brand that is as conscious about our planet as skincare. Skin Sapiens are ‘1% for the planet’ members ( 1% of sales go to climate change charities) and their origins story totally grabbed me; a new Dad wanted to create clean, no nonsense, sustainable skincare for his baby. Cute or what? I’ve been using their Facial Cleansing Gel for a few months (more reviews to come) but they recently kindly gifted their new cleanser which has been reformulated based on customer feedback. This little number has just 14 ingredients including responsibly sourced palm oil and oat oil to gently cleanse. Headlines: Super gentle and effective, a very reasonable price point, does what it says on the tin! A great improvement on the previous formulation.

The Good:
Lots of good things here for me. The value for money is excellent (£7.99 for 150ml). The cleanser itself is very effective at leaving the skin feeling clean but not stripped of moisture. The consistency of the gel is thick enough to hold before applying which is a big improvement on the previous formulation which often tried to escape down the sink! I’ve use gel cleansers as a morning/second cleanse so can’t comment on make-up removing abilities.

The Bad:
The smell. I think this is the oat oil which has the faint aroma of plastic…not my bag…I’ll caveat this with the fact I have the nose of a bloodhound so others may not notice this…Also while benzyl alcohol is a minor ingredient, It may cause irritation for some skin types. Although dermatologically tested as for sensitive skin, as always, patch test first if you are unsure.

The Ugly Truth: Would I repurchase? Probably…it’s not a bat out the park but at this price, it’s really great option to stick in the routine.
