I try to stay a little positive on my little corner of the internet and not post products I don’t care for but something about this packaging screamed to be photographed. Sunday Riley gifted me their new Light Hearted Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen.
Initially I was really excited to see Sunday Riley come out with a sunscreen. I loved their Luna oil in the past and I’m a huge fan of their U.F.O line. I was awestruck by how gorgeous their packaging on the product was BUT I was extremely disappointed when I saw how small the product was. It looks so tiny!! It has 1.5 fl oz of product for $35. I decided to do more research and most prestige sunscreens at Sephora are only 1.7 fl oz so it’s not far off but that still doesn’t make up for the .2 oz difference. Especially when you’re supposed to use at least three fingers full.
As far as the formulation goes the only complaint I have is the smell. It’s very, very faint but it smells like cigarettes to me which isn’t the most pleasant. Other than that it goes onto the skin with very minimal white caste (it’s a chemical sunscreen). I do find the formula to be super light compared to most sunscreens I’ve tried so this may be a good option for those who don’t like “traditional” sunscreen. It gives a little bit of a glow to the face without looking greasy.
Overall though I think it’s overpriced for what feels like a basic sunscreen. They claim blue light and antioxidant protection within the formula but I don’t find it worth it to splurge when you’re getting less product than a standard Sephora sunscreen. If you’re a Sunday Riley fan or this piqued you’re interest it may be worth a try. It’s not a bad formula but it just didn’t blow me away.
